From 645 to 660
Starting with the 2006 model the 645 was replaced by the 660.
The 660 and 645 hulls are identical.
This means that the boat has kept its excellent navigation qualities.
What did change are deck and interior.
For instance:
Seats have watertight lids.
Anchor hatch on foredeck.
Circular seat both at the front and back.
Optional built-in toilet.
Steering console can be placed to the customer’s liking.
This means steering can be done in the center behind the steering wheel.
In General
The Kuperus sloep 660 is a clinker-built spiegelsloep. Through the extraordinarily, gracious, heart-shaped stern and the beautiful sheer, she is a sight to see. The somewhat countersunk decks also contribute to her classical appearance, while the lining guarantees a high final stability and comfortable behaviour in rough water. The lowered fore- and after deck gives our boat that bit of extra charisma that other boats often lack.
Quality
The hull and cockpit are completely made of polyester. Here only Lloyd’s tested resins are processed. The complete sloep is Made in Holland!!
The inside of the hull is provided with laminated ribs. The engine bed, a steel construction of 10 mm, is integrated in here. Through the great number of ribs a great starchiness is reached, which is good for the behaviour. In this way we are capable to build strong boats which require very little maintenance.
The Kuperus Sloep is examined by Lloyd’s Register and is build according to the CE-standard.
Characteristics
In as early as the sixties the foundation was laid for the present-day design of the Kuperus Sloep. At that time the boat was specially built as rowing boat for the nautical college in Harlingen. With this rowing boat the first nautical principles were taught on the Waddenzee. A few Kuperus Sloepen in row version compete regularly in contests like the Harlingen- Terschelling race, Muiden-Pampus- Muiden and the canal race of Amsterdam. In contrast to the rowing boat, the motorboats are provided with 100 kg dead weight. This dead weight gives extra stability and even better qualities. Recently our boat was tested by the ECB. The test results were published in the monthly magazine ‘Yacht vision’. If you haven’t received the test results, please ask us!
Technique
The standard engine is the YANMAR 1GM10, 9HP, 1-cylinder diesel intercooler, mounted on a 10 mm thick, steal foundation.
Through the slim underwater hull you need relatively little engine power. The hull speed is already gained at 2600 revolutions of the engine. Therefore building in a heavier engine is not really necessary.
The propulsion of the screw occurs through a low-maintenance and environment-friendly water lubricated stainless steel propeller shaft system.
The standard procedure is to mount the thrust bearing between the engine and the propeller shaft. By doing so the thrust is directly transmitted to the engine foundation. In this way even the smallest, troublesome vibrations are removed. A heavy isolated engine chest is standard at our company because we believe that the enjoyment is mainly determined by the lack of noise. Both the stainless steel tank and the battery are mounted below the foredeck.
Designs
You will find lots of storage space inside the benches and under the foredeck. First class teakwood is used with the boarding. A combination of teak and varnished mahogany is possible among other things.
For the hull and the deck you can choose from many standard colours without extra charge.
